Steve Lander - a teacher by profession - took up refereeing in 1999. He took control of 19 Internationals before retiring. He worked with the England Team that won the Rugby World Cup in Australia. His role became part of Clive Woodward’s Management Team when Woodward took control of the English rugby team. He was a Premiership referee between 1989 and 2005 and England’s first professional referee. He is also the holder of a World Cup Winner’s Medal, as a member of the 2003 England squad.
