Laurent Cardona
Laurent Cardona first started refereeing at the age of 19 and from then until he turned 24, he played and refereed at the same time - a bit like Richie McCaw. He went on to referee his first Top 14 game in 2008. Cardona and his assistant referee Salem Attalah were suspended for two weeks after allowing an incorrect quick throw in the 2013 Bordeaux-Begles vs Stade Francais game - failing to spot that players did not use the same ball for a quick throw in.
